We move this load to the snout of the crankshaft so it is no longer being driven by an interference fit timing gear. We reengineered the fuel system by moving the pump out of the valley and driving it via a proper ratio Pulley and serpentine belt. This improves access, and cuts install time. For decades there have been PTO pumps, compressors, and extra fuel pumps driven by serpentine belts on diesel engines; the 8 rib belts are easily up to the task.
