Trying to run a $400 pump off of a $2 toggle switch isn’t going to work for very long. You always want to wire a pump through a relay. Dieselsite’s new Fuel Pump Control Module provides a highly efficient, micro-processor based controller in a compact, easy to install unit. It's designed to easily upgrade to an electric fuel pump from a mechanical pump setup. The new system is energized electrically for 15 seconds with key on power, then transitions to oil pressure once the engine starts. If oil pressure is not present, it shuts down the fuel pump. As an added safety feature, the controller uses an inertia switch to deactivate the pump in the event of an impact or accident.
